Fresh new summer menu 2024
This amazing weather calls for a new summer menu! Some favorites are staying – like Manto dumplings and Royal Pakora – and we are welcoming a bunch of new vegan dishes, refreshing summer cocktails and sweet desserts.
New summer food
We’re saying “welcome back” to our classic Bolani, filled with potato and served with mango chutney. Bolani is a an fried flat bread that is super popular as a street food in Afghanistan. Perfect as a snack or meal during summer! As a condiment we will also serve our Bolani with plant-based Doogh, a yoghurt drink with dried mint and cucumber. The perfect refreshing beverage! It’s a popular drink in both Afghanistan, Iran, Syria and Lebanon.
Another new dish on the menu is our deconstructed Japanese noodle soup – Zaru Soba. It’s served chilled, and is perfect for those hot summer evenings when you sometimes don’t even want to think of warm food. Buckwheat noodles and a umami mushroom dashi to dip them in is the base, and then we add some stir fried mushrooms and broccoli, crispy mung bean sprouts and shredded daikon that can be dissolved in the dashi broth.
New summer cocktails
As for cocktails, we’re following the season with some tropical and floral flavors:
- watermelon + mint + lime
- pineapple + cucumber + cilantro + coconut
- orange blossom + lemon balm + tonic
- Mango + raspberry + passion fruit
New summer desserts
Our little sweet treats are inspired by Afghan classics and east asian flavors!
This season we have put together a dessert inspired by east asian flavors that we call Sesame ginger spice which consists of black sesame ice cream from Köld, sesame brittle, tahini chocolate fudge and thai lemongrass jelly with spicy brown ginger syrup.
Craving a little sweet treat and tea? Try our afghan fudge Sheer Pira, with walnuts, cardamom and has the perfect creamy and crumbly texture.
